I am writing to express my concern about the current passport application process, which I recently found to be outdated, inconvenient, and unnecessarily costly.
My primary complaints are as follows:
Unnecessary Photocopies:
Despite presenting original documents for verification, the passport office requires additional photocopies. This seems redundant, especially considering a charge of 5 rupees per copy is levied on applicants. In the digital age, this practice feels outdated and wasteful.
Non-Integration with Aadhaar:
If an applicant's Aadhaar card is not updated, they are required to renew it, incurring a separate fee of 150 rupees. Given the extensive digital infrastructure available, it is perplexing that the passport application process doesn't integrate with Aadhaar to verify information electronically. This would eliminate the need for physical copies and renewals, streamlining the process and reducing costs for applicants.
The current system creates unnecessary hurdles and financial burdens. It fails to leverage existing technology, resulting in frustration and a user-unfriendly experience.
I urge you to consider the following:
Eliminate the requirement for photocopies: Passport officials should verify documents electronically or by sight-reading originals, eliminating the need for unnecessary copies and associated charges.
Integrate with Aadhaar:
The passport application process should seamlessly integrate with Aadhaar to electronically verify address and other relevant information. This would eliminate the need for physical document submission and renewal fees associated with outdated information.
I believe these changes would significantly improve the efficiency and user-friendliness of the passport application process, reducing costs and frustration for applicants.
I kindly request your intervention to modernize the Passport Application System and bring it in line with the advancements of the digital era.

Firstly, despite providing original documents for verification, the passport office requires additional photocopies. This requirement seems unnecessary, especially considering they charge applicants 5 rupees per copy.
Secondly, if your Aadhaar card isn't updated, you must renew it, which incurs a 150 rupee fee.
In today's digital world, these practices feel outdated and inconvenient. The process is not user-friendly and fails to utilize existing digital infrastructure to streamline the experience. This results in unnecessary costs and frustration for applicants.
